Writer. Journalist. Theatre Artist.

Jerald Raymond Pierce is a writer, stage manager, and general theatre practitioner in the Chicago area. He has his BFA in Acting from Ohio University and MA in Arts Journalism from Syracuse University.

His writing can be seen on Chicago Stage Standard, where he serves as an editor, Colts Authority, and American Theatre magazine.

Recently, Jerald moderated a discussion on race and culture in contemporary casting at American Players Theatre following his article detailing the controversy surrounding the company's casting of Blood Knot.

Peter Brook said of theatre in his book The Empty Space: "When the status quo is rotten, the only possibility is to judge events in relation to a possible goal." I write to find that goal and to work toward a more urgent, immediate, and lasting form of theatre.
